"Fun Gus Part I" is the 5th episode of season 2 of Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts and the 15th episode overall. It premiered on Netflix with the rest of the season on June 12, 2020.
Synopsis[]
Kipo and company look for answers — and an anchor — in her parents’ old quarters. But are they alone? Above, mysterious forces gather against a ruler.
Plot[]
In a flashback, Song and Lio climb up to the earth's surface and see flying two headed flamingos and giant bunnies. They talk about how they have the chemicals to reverse the mutations, but how they can't bring themselves to do it. They plan to lie to their people to hold them off as long as possible.
Kipo and the gang get closer to her old burrow. She explains to the group what happened to her mom and how she died of "burrowpox" when she was young. They find the burrow completely covered in a sticky red fungus.

Scarlemagne welcomes a group of his followers and asks them to help him find the mega monkey. They sing where she is and he promises them first class housing in his new city in return.
The masked "vigilantes" follow a line of ants to track down the Mega Monkey. Scarlemagne is also hunting in the same area to trap the monkey. They land in the Cactus forest and find the snakes playing the electric guitar. Scarlemagne and the mutes are super sensitive to the sound. Scarlemagne sends his humans to stop the music.
Kipo's group searches the burrow and finds a bunch of DNA helixes. She tracks down her parent's old room to search for her anchor. They find a book named "Project Kipo", which has formulas and diary entries about how Kipo came to be a hybrid baby.
Old man Dave and Benson get into a fight because Dave keeps seeing ghosts and Benson doesn't believe him. The fungus walls get alive and grab Dave, in baby form, and Mandu. In another room, the walls grab the journal, which Kipo decided was her new anchor. They all look around, confused.
One of the masked people finds the mega monkey before Scarlemagne.
